Yacht and Ship Surveys
Pre-Purchase, Damage or Valuation Surveys
Pre-Purchase, Damage or Valuation Surveys
Boating opens up a realm of new possibilities, however, it can hide a variety of threats.
A pre-purchase yacht survey is crucial to avoid bad surprises.
We don’t offer just boat or ship surveyors but naval architects and naval structural engineers that are also qualified as surveyors.
Our professionals have the experience in building yachts and can deeply understand flaws and structural problems that might not be from the use of the vessel but at the origin. To have a clear idea of how to solve present and potential issues on a vessel and how to prevent more issues to arise from an apparently minor flaw of a given vessel is fundamental to deliver safety of use and better yacht ownership experience.
Types of Yacht and Ship Survey:
There are different types of yacht or ship surveys from the most comprehensive to the most purpose-specific.
Before starting to shop for boats, you should consider whether you want to look at exclusively new or used boats, or perhaps both. New boats will come to you in perfect condition but not necessarily without any problems in both cases, indeed, It is useful to have an unbiased surveyor on the buyer side.
A new vessel will also be protected under a warranty, which is a great thing to have if you run into any issues, however, design flaws could still be there without you noticing at first. If you opt to buy new, you’ll be buying from a dealer or a shipyard.
If you’re considering buying a used boat, you could save quite a bit of money (but not necessarily will within a given time frame) without the right surveyor for a pre-purchase survey you could end up spending more refitting a vessel than the what you would spend on a new built. Furthermore, you could be taking unnecessary and even life-threatening risks with the use of a vessel not thoroughly checked.
If you are considering a pre-owned vessel you will greatly benefit from hiring a marine surveyor of your choice contact Rodriquez Consulting to professionally review the vessel before you go ahead and complete the purchase.
A surveyor can estimate the value of the boat to tell you if you’re getting a fair deal and can warn you if there are any problems or potential issues. At Rodriquez Consulting we take a more elaborated approach and consider the use the prospective owner is planning to do, the future value, his/her intention to keep the vessel in a specific geographical area, as well as the time frame the prospective owner is looking forward to keeping the vessel for before trading it for another vessel (bigger, smaller or of different type) or simply sell it for other personal reasons.
With over 130 years marine and yachting experience, Rodriquez can estimate not only the purchase value of the vessel for insurance purposes and for the negotiation that will lead to a successful acquisition of a vessel but also:

I had read everything I could find about boats but being a woman in a very man-oriented business I felt much safer with my purchase, with these pros at my fingertip. I love my new boat I can go off for the weekend to my favourite spots with all my girlfriends and no crew.
